Zurab Papaskiri

Z. Papaskiri was born in 1950 in Zugdidi, Georgia. In 1972, he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Tbilisi State University. In 1975, Z. Papaskiri graduated from the Post Graduate School of the M. Lomonosov University, Moscow. Since 1976, he worked at the Sokhumi Pedagogical University and (from 1979 - State University of Abkhazia) as a lecturer, docent and Deputy Head of the Department. In 1989-2005 Z. Papaskiri worked as the Head of Department of Georgian History at Sokhumi Branch of Tbilisi State University. Simultaneously he worked as the Deputy Head of the Scientific Center of Georgian State and Peoples Diplomacy. He is the author of more than 100 publications (among them 9 monographs, textbooks).

Z. Papaskiri is a Doctor, Full Professor, Head of the Abkhazian Organization of Ekvtime Takaishvili Georgian Historical Society, Chief Editor of the periodical “Historical Researches”, awardee of the George Sharvashidze National Award.
