Coat of Arms

Coat of Arms of the Sokhumi State University represents a round shield with the name of the University inscribed around it in Georgian, Abkhazian and Russian languages.

Blue field symbolizes The Black Sea and the Golden one is the symbol of the sun – the source of the light and the education.

On the boundary of the blue and the golden fields there are placed two Georgian letters (SSU) – abbreviation for “Sokhumi State University”. Above the abbreviation there is a flying seagull - the symbol of the energy, youth and striving for knowledge.
