On April 5, 2017, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Georgia Mr. Mariusz Maszkiewicz visited Sokhumi State University. The Head of Foreign Affairs and Intercultural Relations Department Prof. Indira Dzagania welcomed the guest and spoke about the history, present, and past of the university. The parties discussed established contacts and implemented joint projects with Polish HEIs. Mr Maszkiewicz expressed his interest in strengthening existing contacts, implementing Polish language courses and joint projects. Mr Maszkiewicz visited the Center of Polish Language and Culture and the Corner of Polish Culture at the library of university.

The university choir (artistic director and conductor K. Tsiklauri) performed Georgian folk songs for the guest.
