In 2022, for the first time at
Sokhumi State University, Jean Monnet Module (Jean Monnet Activities - Erasmus+
Program (ERASMUS) ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH - CSREU) was selected for
co-financing by the European Commission. The Manager of the three-year Jean
Monnet Module „Corporate Social Responsibility in the European Union:
Experience for Georgia" is Professor Larisa Takalandze (Faculty of
Business and Social Sciences). The general objective of the project is to improve the
quality of study programs at Sokhumi State University (SSU) in the field of
European integration. The Module includes a new teaching course, a Summer
School for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and several events in
CSR.
In 2023-2025, Spring/Summer School „Corporate
Social Responsibility in the context of Relations between the EU and Georgia”
was held at Sokhumi State University within the frameworks of the Jean Monnet
Module CSREU (5-14 June 2023, 3-11 June 2024, 30 April - 8 May 2025)
The Summer School aimed to raise students'
awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility, the European Union's experience
in this area, and to raise awareness of important issues such as:
Georgia's current trends and expected outcomes of EU integration, EU tools for
sustainable development, Environmental Social Responsibility in the EU, Social
Entrepreneurship, and more. Both
Georgian and foreign professors, as well as recognized leaders in the field,
were invited to participate in the Summer School.
For three years, 391 undergraduate students (86.9% of
participants) and 59 (13.1% of participants) of the Master's program took part in the Summer/Spring School; including 230 students (51,1% of participants) of Business and Social Sciences, 78
students (17,3% of participants) - Humanities, 27
students (6% of participants) - Law and Diplomacy, 25 students (5.6% of participants) - Educational Sciences, 90 students (20% of participants) - from the Faculty of Natural
Sciences, Mathematics, Technology and Pharmacy; 25.1% of the total number of
participating students (113 students) have the status of Internally Displaced
Persons.
All
participants of the event were awarded certificates.
