32 Years Since the Fall of Sokhumi

On September 27, Georgia bows its head in remembrance of one of the most painful and tragic days in our recent history—a day that embodies not only the nation’s shared sorrow but also the heavy legacy of Sokhumi State University, whose professors and students gave their lives heroically in the struggle for the unity of our homeland.

With profound grief and eternal reverence, we honor their sacrifice.

Their memory shall remain eternal. Today, Sokhumi State University continues its academic mission with dignity and responsibility, carrying the sacred duty to preserve the idea of national unity and to guide future generations—thus paying homage to the immortal legacy of its worthy ancestors.

With the deepest respect, we also remember all the heroes who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of Georgia.
