On
23 October 2025, a round table was held at Sokhumi State University (SSU) on
the topic: “Higher Education and the Sustainable Development Goals: European
Experience.” The event was jointly organized by SSU (led by Jean Monnet
Professor Larisa Takalandze) and the Faculty of Business Technologies of the
Georgian Technical University (GTU), headed by Professor Rusudan Kutateladze,
Dean of the same faculty.
The
round table was opened by Jean Monnet Professor Larisa Takalandze. The
participants were welcomed by the Rector of Sokhumi State University, Professor
Tea Jugeli, and Professor Anzor Abralava of the Georgian Technical University,
Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia.
Speakers
at the event included: Tatiana Dubovskaia, Nettle TOC, bioplastics production
startup (Netherlands); Rusudan Kutateladze, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of
Business Technologies, GTU; Larisa Takalandze, Jean Monnet Professor, SSU; Following
the presentations, an extensive discussion took place, including a Q&A
session and an exchange of opinions.
The
participants emphasized the importance of sharing best practices and
experiences of the European Union. After summarizing the event, several
viewpoints and future visions regarding the topic under discussion were
outlined.
