Sokhumi
State University hosted Mr. Tommaso Di Matteo — Representative of the
Government of the Sicily Region, Director of SPRINT, and Founder of CPW Italia
— on an official working visit.
The
visit was organized by the University’s partner institution, the Italian
Educational Center Minerva – Polo per l’Istruzione MINERVA, which coordinates
Italian language teaching and educational projects within the framework of
cooperation between the Embassy of Italy in Georgia and the Ministry of
Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia.
Mr.
Tommaso Di Matteo serves as the official representative of the Sicily Region in
the field of business internationalization (SPRINT). His organization, CPW
Italia, actively supports young people in their professional development and
entrepreneurship.
During
his visit, Mr. Di Matteo met with Professor Tea Jugeli, Rector of Sokhumi State
University, and Professor Indira Dzagania, Head of the Department of
International Relations and Intercultural Communication.
The
meeting focused on expanding international collaboration and discussed several
promising initiatives, including:
Development
of joint undergraduate and master’s programs with the Sicilian state
universities of Palermo, Catania, and Messina;
Student
and academic staff exchange programs;
Organization
of joint summer schools;
Professional
training and internship opportunities in the tourism sector in Sicily;
Creation of a joint business accelerator to support young entrepreneurs and facilitate their integration into the international startup ecosystem.
The
parties expressed confidence that the cooperation will further strengthen
Sokhumi State University’s international engagement, enhance student
opportunities, and foster new academic and professional connections between
Georgia and Italy.
