Student
International Scientific and Practical Conference Held at the Faculty of Law
and Diplomacy
On
December 19, 2025, a Student International Scientific and Practical Conference
dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Georgia
was held at the Faculty of Law and Diplomacy of Sokhumi State University. The
conference was titled “Human Rights and Freedoms and Contemporary Challenges of
the State’s Territorial Organization.”
The
participants of the conference were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law
and Diplomacy of Sokhumi State University, Professor Vepkhvia Gvaramia. He
wished the participants success and noted that organizing national and
international conferences dedicated to anniversary dates of the adoption of
major legal instruments has become a long-standing tradition of the Faculty.
The significance of the conference was also highlighted by the Head of the
Legal Clinic, Professor Lali Gabisonia, and the Head of the Quality Management
Office of the Faculty of Law and Diplomacy, Professor Asmat Gugava.
A
total of 68 students delivered presentations at the conference. Several
parallel panels were held, during which contemporary legal challenges related
to the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as the territorial
organization of the state, were discussed.
The
conference brought together students from various universities in the United
Kingdom, Ukraine, and Georgia. Particularly active participation was noted
among students from Sokhumi State University, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State
University, the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), the International
Black Sea University (IBSU), and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
At
the conclusion of the conference, Professor Vepkhvia Gvaramia summarized the
proceedings, thanked the participants for their active engagement, and
announced that in the spring of next year, a Student International Conference
titled “The Nuremberg Principles” will be held to mark the 80th anniversary of
the conclusion of the Nuremberg Trials.
