On January 28, 2026, Sokhumi State University hosted Professor Francesco Palumbo, Vice-Rector of the Federico II University of Naples (UniNa). The visit included an official reception with the Rector, Professor Tea Jugeli, administrative leaders, and faculty members. The event featured performances by the university's music ensemble "Mordu" and dance ensemble "Mironi," highlighting Georgian culture.

The visit focused on deepening cooperation between the two universities, discussing joint educational initiatives, and exploring new academic programs at Sokhumi's State University. The Federico II University of Naples, founded in 1224, is a renowned institution with over 95,000 students and operates across numerous historic university buildings, making it one of Europe’s largest and most influential higher education institutions.
