Memorandum
of Cooperation Signed Between the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons of
the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and LEPL Sokhumi State University
On
March 4, 2026, a Memorandum of Cooperation was officially entered into by the Ministry
of Internally Displaced Persons of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and LEPL
Sokhumi State University.
The
document was signed by the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons of the
Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, David Patsatsia, and the Rector of Sokhumi
State University, Professor Tea Jugeli.
The
signing event was attended by the Director of the Service Agency of the
Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Avtandil Karaia, the Head of the
Administration of Sokhumi State University, Professor David Jalaghonia, and the
University’s Deputy Rector, Associate Professor Romeo Galdava. Heads of the
university’s administrative units and faculty deans were also present at the
meeting.
The
objective of this memorandum is to foster the sharing of professional assets
and analytical knowledge between both institutions. Furthermore, it intends to
assist young people displaced from Abkhazia, as well as those residing within
the occupied region, by promoting their involvement in research, educational,
and volunteer activities, alongside diverse seminars and training workshops.
According
to the terms of the memorandum, the organizations intend to execute
collaborative projects, provide consultations, and coordinate the exchange of
official delegations. Additionally, specific focus will be placed on programs
that advance the growth of displaced youth and bolster Georgian–Abkhaz
cooperative efforts.
