In Spring 2026, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module EUPEACE under Bachelor educational program of the Sokhumi State University the new teaching course "Georgian Peace Paradigm and EU Peacebuilding" (35 classroom/contact hours; 35 hours including: Lecture/Seminars - 30 hours, Midterm Examination – 2 hours, Final Examination - 3hours) has been started. The teaching course is compulsory for students of bachelor programs in Political Sciences, and for the students of any bachelor’s degree program is elective. Academic leader of the project, Professor Zurab Khonelidze is giving lectures. The educational process also involves Jean Monnet Professors L.Takalandze, L. Makhashvili and Associate Professor of the Sokhumi State University, G. Tsaava; Invited lecturer on seminars (4 hours) – doctoral student Levan Geradze.
184 students are registered for the new course (instead of 150 students provided by the project) from three Faculties of the University (Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Technologies and Pharmacy). The total number of students was divided into 2 lecture and 6 seminar groups.
The
general objective of the project is to improve quality of study programs at SSU
in the field of Peacebuilding and European integration. Introduction of the
Module “Georgian Peace Paradigm and EU Peace building” will contribute to
the training of students at SSU; it will acquaint them with the experience of
Peacebuilding in the EU. The object of studying is Georgian
Peace Paradigm and EU capabilities
for peace building and conflict prevention.
