On March 29, 2026, within the
framework of the project (Jean Monnet Module) "Georgian Peace Paradigm and
EU Peacebuilding " supported by the EU ERASMUS+ program, a meeting of
students with veterans of the War in Abkhazia was held at Sokhumi State
University (SSU). The project Manager, Professor Larisa Takalandze, opened
the event, introducing the goal and the importance of the project to the
students. She drew attention to the importance of youth involvement in Peacebuilding
processes. The main part of the meeting was devoted to the experience of
veterans of the war in Abkhazia. Associate Professor of the Faculty of Natural
Sciences, Mathematics, Technologies and Pharmacy Romeo Galdava and Professor of
the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, David Jalagonia, shared his
memories of the War with students. The meeting was held in a discussion format,
which allowed students to learn from the participants about the challenges, the
understanding of which is important for the formation of a peaceful vision. The event was summed up by Larisa Takalandze, project Manager,
Professor at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. He highlighted the
value of such meetings for the academic environment and future generations. The
meeting was attended by representatives of academic staff of the University.
