On May 23, 2026, as part of "Abkhazetoba 2026", a photo exhibition and a youth meeting dedicated to Abkhazia were held at Sokhumi State University.
The event opened with a photo exhibition by Sokhumi State University, featuring photographic materials depicting the history and culture of Abkhazia. The purpose of the exhibition was to showcase the historical and cultural significance of Abkhazia as a shared national space, as well as to strengthen the concept of memory and unity among youth.
Following the photo exhibition, a meeting was organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia within the framework of "Abkhazetoba 2026". The meeting brought together the scholarship recipients of the "Support Sub-Program for Successful Youth" from the Abkhazian Center – "Meskhi Youth for Unity" functioning under LEPL Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, and the members of the "Youth Advisory Council" – an advisory body under the Ministry of Justice of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
The official part of the meeting was dedicated to a dialogue on Georgian-Abkhaz relations, revitalizing peace policy, and strengthening the role of youth. The participants discussed the importance of promoting cooperation, mutual understanding, and peace among young people.
The event also featured a literary-theatrical composition dedicated to the life and work of the renowned Abkhaz artist, Aleksandre Shervashidze.
On May 23, alongside the Feast of Saint Simon the Zealot, Georgia celebrates "Abkhazetoba" for the thirteenth time. This day was established by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan of Bitchvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazeti, Ilia II, and has become a symbol of unity, reconciliation, and faith in a shared future.
