Sokhumi
State University took part in the festive event marking Georgia's Independence
Day in the city of Ozurgeti on May 26, 2026. Organized by the Ministry of
Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, the celebration took place in
Ozurgeti's central square.

The
university featured prominently in the exhibition area, hosting a wide array of
educational and interactive programs. Attendees had the chance to examine plant
and animal cells under an electron microscope, practice traditional Georgian
calligraphy, and take part in hands-on workshops centered around technical
problem-solving and agricultural sciences.
The
events were attended by Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze; Vice
Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Irakli Chikovani; Minister of
Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze; Deputy Minister of Education,
Science and Youth, Zviad Gabisonia; and the Vice-Rector of Sokhumi State
University, Romeo Galdava.
