Partskhma Public School, located in Chokhatauri Municipality, recently hosted the latest session of an innovative educational initiative. On May 30, 2026, the school welcomed the "Mobile STEAM Laboratory - AI is Coming to School" project, providing local students with hands-on experience in artificial intelligence and modern technology.
As part of the mobile STEAM workshop, students participated in interactive exercises to understand the fundamental mechanisms of AI and explore digital instruments that are becoming integral to modern classrooms. The program placed a strong emphasis on inquiry- and project-based instruction, allowing young learners to become active participants in their own educational advancement.
This initiative is carried out under the auspices of "Democracy Starts in School"—a joint venture by the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The partnership is built upon a formal memorandum of understanding signed by Professor Tea Jugeli, Rector of Sokhumi State University, and Teimuraz Chabukiani, Director of the LEPL Kutaisi St. Nino Public School No. 3.
A cornerstone of the project is its peer-to-peer learning model, which empowers previously trained high school students to guide and mentor their peers by sharing their newly acquired expertise.
The workshop at Partskhma Public School was led by Nana Gulua, a professor at Sokhumi State University’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Technologies and Pharmacy, and Khatuna Putkaradze, an associate professor at the same faculty who also serves as Deputy Director of Kutaisi Public School No. 3. Additionally, Manana Jeladze, a student registry specialist from the faculty, assisted in coordinating and executing the event.
Discussions during the visit also focused on expanding the school's STEAM club, an effort intended to reinforce scientific and technological disciplines within the institution's curriculum.
By uniting faculty and students from Sokhumi State University with youth from Kutaisi Public School No. 3, this cooperative effort offers a successful framework for higher and secondary education systems to jointly deliver contemporary knowledge to regional communities.
Moving forward, the "Mobile STEAM Laboratory - AI is Coming to School" project will continue traveling to diverse regions across Georgia to ensure that technological literacy is within reach for a growing number of students.
