On
June 19, 2026, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Technologies, and
Pharmacy at Sokhumi State University hosted an anniversary event honoring the
milestone dates of its faculty members.
Professor
Melor Alphenidze opened the event, highlighting the university's academic
traditions and the crucial role of dedicated educators in developing the
educational process. Associate Professor Koba Korsantia, the Deputy Dean,
introduced the honorees' biographies, reviewing their career paths, scientific
achievements, and contributions to the university.
Sokhumi
State University Rector, Professor Tea Jugeli, addressed the audience to
congratulate the veteran educators and praise their long-standing dedication to
education and science. Vice-Rector Associate Professor Romeo Galdava and Head
of Administration Professor Davit Jalaghonia also spoke, thanking the faculty
members for their years of teaching and research while wishing them future
success.
As
part of the celebration, the honorees were awarded certificates of appreciation
and commemorative gifts for their contributions to science and education. The
awards were presented to: Professor Malkhaz Ashordia, Associate Professors
Mineda Chanturia, Marina Churghaia-Shurghaia, and Malkhaz Kutsia, Assistant
Professor Giorgi Vanishvili, and Laboratory Assistant Zaur Kekelia.
The
honorees thanked their colleagues and university leadership, emphasizing the
importance of academic unity and expressing gratitude for the organized event.
The
celebration concluded in a festive atmosphere with the cutting of a jubilee
cake and congratulations.
