On
June 22, 2026, Plovdiv University professors Borislava Petkova Kostova, Lyubka
Petrova Lipcheva-Prandzheva, and Boyan Bogomilov Kostov visited Sokhumi State
University (SSU) under the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility program.
The
Bulgarian delegation held a meeting with SSU’s Head of Administration,
Professor Davit Jalaghonia. The discussion centered on the vital partnership
connecting the two institutions, which has steadily grown over the years and
continues to foster new international endeavors.
The
visiting scholars also met with Professor Indira Dzagania, Head of the
Department of International Relations and Intercultural Contacts. They reviewed
the historical and future prospects of this academic alliance, and the guests
showcased their latest project, "Picturesque Bulgaria (Literary
Atlas)."
Both
parties evaluated their successful collaborations across science, culture, and
education. Particular focus was placed on the Bulgarian language classes
currently offered at SSU by Plovdiv University's Ivana Petkova. They also
highlighted the literary achievements of Robert Meskhi (SSU) and Tilio Tilev
(Plovdiv University), who successfully translated and published each other's
works.
Furthermore,
they discussed a joint trilingual album showcasing Georgian-Bulgarian
relations, a documentary piece created with active support from Plovdiv
University to chronicle the cultural and educational bonds between both
nations.
The
session wrapped up with a dialogue on upcoming initiatives and fresh
cooperative avenues designed to further solidify the strategic partnership
between the two universities.
Notably,
a newly approved Erasmus+ grant with Plovdiv University will secure upcoming
exchange opportunities, allowing students, faculty, and administrative staff to
benefit from international mobility and professional growth.
