The DITECH project, supported by the European
Union's Erasmus+ program, continues to spearhead vital reforms in educational
programs across Georgian universities and schools. The project focuses on
curriculum enhancements and the professional development of both students and
academic staff.
At the heart of this initiative, an informative
analytical conference took place on November 2, 2023, at Sokhumi State
University. Esteemed members of the DITECH project presented a comprehensive
overview of the project's remarkable achievements and three-year journey to the
engaged audience.
Welcoming
the conference, Professor Zurab Khonelidze, Rector of Sokhumi State University,
emphasized the pivotal role of educational projects in nurturing the growth of
academic staff. Associate Professor Izabela Petriashvili, the national
coordinator of the DITECH project from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State
University, highlighted the significant strides made in Georgian universities.
Additionally, Associate Professor Nino Topuridze, Head of Administration at
Sokhumi State University, and Professor Davit Jalaghonia, Speaker of the
Representative Council, underscored the crucial aspects of project planning and
execution. Head of Quality Assurance Service of Sokhumi State University,
Associate Professor Romeo Galdava, provided valuable insights into the
transformative role of educational projects in institutional development.
The local coordinator of the project and the project
implementers: Lia Akhaladze, Tamar Shinjiashvili, Nino Tsulaya and Levan
Kvaratskhelia made analytical reports on the main achievements, activities and
practical experience of the DITECH project at SSU, on the mechanisms of
educational projects as academic staff development.
The event concluded with the ceremonial
presentation of certificates to academic staff, doctoral candidates, school
teachers (a total of 70 individuals), and trainers. Additionally, the national
coordinator of the project received the esteemed award for Best National
Coordinator from Sokhumi State University, in recognition of exemplary project
management.
