On August 2, 2021, the Rector of Sokhumi State University,
Prof. Zurab
Khonelidze opened a national scientific-practical conference
- Dissemination of EU international projectsDITECH, ASSET, CURE, DOIT, DARE and modern paradigms of education
- on Zoom
platform, online. In his welcoming speech, the Rector stressed
the importance of international projects for the institutional development of
the higher education system in Georgia, curriculum reform and the improvement
of the educational process. “This support to
universities creates
opportunities for the implementation of the scientific and educational process
at the academic level. I would like to wish success to your conference which
promotes the dissemination of ideas of the international projects and supports the
emergence of new ideas in universities” - said Prof. Zurab Khonelidze.

In addition to the plenary section, the conference
worked on sections dedicated to disseminating EU project ideas: teaching with
new technologies, distance learning challenges, intercultural and multicultural
education, introducing formative assessment in higher education, education policy, innovative methods of
education and new paradigms. The work of each section was distinguished by extensive
discussion and sharing of opinions. The challenges of general and pre-school
education in Abkhazia, schools in Gali Municipality, the problem of teaching in
the mother tongue, the language problem and the open strategy of Georgian
higher education institutions towards the youth of Gali became the subject of special
discussion.
When summarizing the conference, its academic level was
highlighted, a special focus was made on practicing teachers’ reports, recommendations were
provided and future research orientations
were emphasized. On the
recommendation of the section heads, a large part of the reports should be
published, which will be a significant theoretical and practical benefit for the development of the field.
The
conference was initiated by the Department of Scientific Research and
Development, the Faculty of Education Sciences and the Center for Multicultural Education and
Cultural Studies.
