On
December 13, 2023, the National University of Georgia (SEU) hosted the
presentation of the monograph titled "Georgian Paradigm of Peace" by
Professor Zurab Khonelidze, the Rector of Sokhumi State University.
The
event commenced with a warm welcome from the founder and rector of SEU,
Professor Gia Kavtelishvili, who expressed gratitude to the head of SSU for his
visit.
During
the presentation, the Rector of Sokhumi State University provided insights into
the Georgian paradigm of peace, specifically highlighting the concept of
University Diplomacy, which garnered significant interest from the audience.
The speaker engaged with numerous pertinent questions posed by both students
and academic staff.
At
the conclusion of the event, Dr. Davit Aptsiauri, the Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia and a Doctor of Economics, shared his
opinions, offering high praise for the innovative ideas presented by Rector
Zurab Khonelidze and the monograph developed on this basis.
Dr.
Aptsiauri attended the presentation at the National University of Georgia and
commented on the significance of the work in addressing a crucial issue for
Georgia, emphasizing its international relevance, particularly in the context
of the diminishing influence of multilateral diplomacy and the global crisis.
He highlighted the decreasing prospects for conflict resolution amid global
confrontations, emphasizing the importance of adopting new approaches.
Professor
Z. Khonelidze's proposition of a development model for university diplomacy as
a post-conflict constructive approach, built on trust, was considered
noteworthy. He elaborated on how this approach could contribute to restoring
Georgia's territorial integrity. Dr. Aptsiauri commended the well-structured
and easily readable material of the monograph, suggesting its suitability for
university educational and research programs related to conflict resolution
issues.
