On April 30, 2025, the Spring School “CSR in the Context of Relations between the European Union and Georgia” was opened at the Sokhumi State University within the frameworks of the Jean Monnet Module, which is supported by the ERASMUS+ Programme (101083295-CSREU-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH). The Spring School 2025 was opened by the Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Module, Professor Larisa Takalandze; They attended the opening of the Spring School and welcomed the participants Rector of Sokhumi State University, Professor Zurab Khonelidze, Speaker of Representative Council, Associate Professor Nino Tophuridze, Head of Administration of Sokhumi State University, Professor David Jalagonia, Head of Quality Assurance Service, Associate Professor Romeo Galdava, Head of Department of International Relations and Intercultural Connections, Associate Professor Indira Dzagania.
The aim of the Spring School was to raise students' awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility, the European Union's experience in this area, and to raise awareness of important issues such as: Georgia's current trends and expected outcomes of EU integration, EU tools for sustainable development; Environmental Social Responsibility in the EU, Social Entrepreneurship and more. Both undergraduate and graduate students of Sokhumi State University participated in the Spring School; It is multidisciplinary - the topic is equally important and relevant for students of different programs. Both Georgian and foreign professors and recognized leaders of the field were invited to participate (see Programme). 150 students with high academic performance were selected for the Spring School; During the selection, preference was given to Internally Displaced Persons, as well as young people living in the occupied territories of Georgia and students actively involved in various events on behalf of Sokhumi State University. Spring School 2025, which included 34 lecture hours (including 8 hours online and 26 hours on-site), lasted for 7 days and closed on May 8, 2025. The Spring School was attended by 140 undergraduate students (86% of participants) and 10 students of the master's program; including 21 students (14% of participants) - from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Technology and Pharmacy, 68 students (45,3% of participants) of Business Administration program, 21 students (14% of participants) of Economic program, 28 students (18,7% of participants) - Humanities, 9 students (6% of participants) - Law and Diplomacy, 2 students - Educational Sciences. 28.7% of the total number of participating students (43 students) have the status of Internally Displaced Persons. The award ceremony was attended by the Rector of Sokhumi State University, Professor Zurab Khonelidze, Project Coordinator, Professor Larisa Takalandze, and co-organizer, Associate Professor David Zaqaraia. Prior to the award ceremony, Professor Zurab Khonelidze, the rector of the University, spoke extensively about the challenges facing the country and the role of the European Union for Georgia, and the importance of education. He particularly highlighted the Jean Monnet Module and other activities and spoke about the involvement of the young generation in the process of building a democratic and legal state and about the importance of formation of correct worldview. The rector wished the young generation success in their learning and future activities. At the end of the event, the students who participated expressed their impressions and opinions.
